Now, all four seasons of the series are set to drop exclusively on Netflix in the United States on October 24, 2023. In addition to “The Family Business,” other licensed shows heading to Netflix in October include “Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber” (October 4th), “Django” (October 1st), and “The Night Logan Woke Up” (October 1st).
This marks another significant licensing deal for Netflix in 2023, reversing a trend of losing licensed content from other distributors in previous years. The streaming giant has secured various HBO titles this year, including “Band of Brothers” and “Ballers,” along with shows from other networks like “Suits” and “New Amsterdam.”
It’s worth noting that BET is licensing “The Family Business” to Netflix, a subsidiary of Paramount. Throughout much of 2023, BET had been up for sale, but by mid-August, Paramount had announced it was no longer seeking to sell its majority stake in the network.
Netflix has seen limited availability of BET shows in recent years, with “The Game” being one of the closest options, although only the seasons aired on The CW are currently streaming. “Being Mary Jane” was once on Netflix but was removed in October 2015.
