The spooky new season of Overwatch 2 calls for a major Diablo crossover

Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that Overwatch 2’s upcoming season, titled “Rise of Darkness,” will commence on October 10. This eerie season will feature content inspired by Blizzard’s Diablo franchise, with a new Moira skin based on Diablo 4’s Lilith and what seems to be a revamped version of the Junkenstein’s Revenge game mode set in a portion of Blizzard World.

The teaser for Overwatch 2 season 7 also hints at a fresh Diablo-themed skin for Wrecking Ball. Other exciting elements of “Rise of Darkness” have already surfaced, including a Mythic skin for Hanzo (Onryō) and Halloween-themed appearances for Widowmaker (Ghost Bride) and Echo (Victorian Doll).

The latest iteration of Junkenstein’s Revenge appears to be situated in the Tristram Cathedral section of Blizzard World, complete with Zomnics and a Diablo-style town portal, offering players a glimpse of what to expect from the Halloween Terror event in 2023 later this month.

Last year’s Halloween Terror event introduced “Junkenstein’s Revenge: Wrath of the Bride,” transporting players to Eichenwalde to battle sinister versions of Sombra, Symmetra, Winston, and Echo, alongside hordes of Zomnics. Players assumed the roles of Ashe, Junker Queen, Kiriko, and Sojourn in this PvE co-op brawl.

Aside from the Halloween-themed cosmetics and gameplay modes, Overwatch 2 season 7 will also introduce a new map named Samoa. This Control map was officially unveiled during the Overwatch League 2023 grand finals on Sunday.
